LG HS102 Projector Review

The LG HS102 is the company’s smallest projector so far. This model features 150 ANSI lumens, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and SVGA (800 x 600) resolution. Recently, Register Hardware released their review of the HS102. The first comment that the writers made was the incredibly small size of the projector. This projector only weighs 1.6 lbs, and measures 4” x 2” x 6” (W x H x D). The downside that we have seen with many pocket projectors however is the heavy and usually big power pack that is required to power the projector. The power brick that comes with the HS102 is almost the same size of the projector and twice as heavy. However, even though the power brick is large, the projector does come with a USB port that could eliminate the need for a personal PC. The USB port accepts any flash drive and can display photos or video easily and quickly. Based on the displayed image, the writers knew that the HS102 is not built for large screen displays. They even thought that the projector might struggle in certain board rooms, especially those that have a lot of ambient light. Because the LED technology is not as bright as common halogen bulbs, the projector needs a darker environment to produce quality images. The writers concluded by stating, “Make no mistake, this is no home cinema projector. But as a general-purpose, set-up-and-go projector for quick media shows, small presentations and general fun on the road, it is really very good indeed. The tripod support eradicates practically all problems normally associated with setting up a projector, and the LED lamp makes the unit cheap to maintain. Our only gripe is the native 800?600 resolution, which limits its usefulness in too many ways for the HS102 to be truly compelling.” [via Register Hardware ]
