100 Year Old House Gets Brand New Home Theater

It’s always a difficult process to integrate new technology in an old house. The house that holds this theater is over 100 years. At first there was no place to put a theater. The only possible place was a dirt floor basement, but the ceiling was too low. The owners had to excavate the 280 square foot space in order to raise the ceiling to a 10 foot clearance. Once that obstacle was over the only limitations the owners asked the designer from Definitive Sound was to make the theater look like the rest of the house. the theater features a hardwood circular floor that is surrounded by a raised section that incorporates a stage in front of the theater and second row of seating. The seating looks like something from a family car with two chairs in the front row and the back row being an extra long sofa. Even though these seats look like normal furniture, they are equipped with pull out snack shelves in order to hold popcorn, drinks, or any other goodies. The only giveaway that the finished room is not the original design is the brand new 115 inch screen from Screen Research. The screen is paired with a Sim2 C3X 1080 projector that features 2500 ANSI lumens, full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a 10000:1 contrast ratio. The projector is mounted in a specially built box that is fully ventilated in order to prevent the projector from overheating. The family’s entire movie collection is scanned and stored on a Kaleidescape 3U movie/ server for easier access and little fuss. [via Electronic House ]
