Cyberdyne Cinema Home Theater

Darren Mortensen was a well respected respiratory therapist. But his love for movie monsters helped give Mortensen a push towards a new career. Mortensen wanted to create a theater that he could display his collection of movie monster memorabilia but he didn’t know anything about construction or designing. He drew many sketches of what he wanted his theater to look like while he researched and learned what a room needs in order to have a high quality display and sound. He built most of the room himself and as he did he noticed that the room was taking on a metallic look so he named his theater “Cyberdyne Cinema” to pay homage to one of the coolest movie monsters ever, the Terminator. In the movie, Cyberdyne is the name of the computer program that turned the world’s weapons against the human race. While the theater is created in Cyberdyne’s image, it also holds places for Mortensen’s prized possessions, which include letters from Viggo Mortensen (Aragon from “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy) and a full sized Darth Vadar outfit. The centerpiece of the theater is the 159 inch Da-Lite tensioned screen and the Mitsubishi HC5000 projector, which features full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a 10000:1 contrast ratio, and 1000 ANSI lumens. Mortensen enjoyed designing and building his theater so much that he decided to quit his job and start his own designing company, Cinema at . [via Electronic House ]
