Lightspeed Design Contributes to VR Immersion Room

Lightspeed Design has recently been selected to provide their DepthQ HD 3D projectors for a new VR Immersion Room that is being designed and built at the University of Louisiana. The DepthQ HD 3D projector is known for being both affordable and capable of displaying 3D content. The model features 2500 ANSI lumens, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and a standard HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The VR Immersion Room is the latest in VR room technology. Similar to the iCube that was introduced in April, the VR Immersion Room uses three projectors to project onto three walls that are in the cube-like structure. The program displays a room, field, or any atmosphere that the program needs in 3D with the use of specialized glasses. The major difference between this room and the iCube is that in order to move around, the participant only needs to walk in a direction because the floor is actually an omni-directional treadmill. This treadmill makes the user the remote control and allows a more life-like feel as they walk through their environment. The developers plan to use the VR Immersion Room to study soldiers on food in highly stressful, rapidly changing scenarios. The study group plans to determine what kind and how much information a ground troop can take in, what distracts them, and how they choose which pieces to pay attention to. [via Business Wire ]
