The opera house is the perfect location to hear and see operas, musicals, plays, and other great performances. The owners of this home theater wanted to bring that perfection to their home and did so by creating a secret theater. Hidden behind a mirror and cabinet is a highly decorated hallway that takes you to their home theater. The hall and theater has been decorated to look exactly like an old performance hall complete gaudy decorations. The hall is decorated with a starry night sky and has a mini bar sitting area and the equipment rack that controls all the electronics. The projector is in a small room located behind the back wall of the theater, just like an old cinema. The Runco VX55D , which features full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 3475 ANSI lumens, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio, displays onto a 12 foot wide curved screen. In order to create this perfect home theater, the owners had to use the attic space above the master bedroom. One of the challenges was that they had to raise the bedroom roof in order to accommodate the theater. They also had to make sure the soundproofing was sufficient enough that the theater’s massive sound system could not be heard in the bedroom. To help keep the sound in, the theater’s support beams were suspended above the ceiling beams of the bedroom to prevent sound from traveling through them. “My theater is a result of a hobby that has been dear to me since 1996,” says the homeowner. “Until the theater was completed, I never had the perfect room, which I believe I have now.” [via Electronic House ]
