There is a new breed of geeks that are starting to arise called the Cheap Geek. This group tries to find the best electronic equipment available for the lowest cost. A good example would be someone who canceled their satellite or cable service for free TV and movies on Hulu or Boxee. Recently, the writers at Gear Log released a small list of some gadgets that Cheap Geeks could really enjoy. Among them was the ViewSonic PJ258D projector. This model has been out for a while but it still impresses people with its built-in iPod docking station. The projector also features 2000 ANSI lumens, a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio. In addition to the docking station, the PJ258D also comes with a VGA, composite, and an s-video connection. The 3.9 lb design also makes this projector light enough to travel. The original retail price for the PJ258D was $1399, but it can now be found as low as $500 through resellers. [via Gear Log ]
